テーマ：新学習指導要領後のもとでの英語教育：小・中・高・大の連携
2020年の小学校から開始した新学習指導要領は2022年高等学校に年次進行で導入され、各校種への導入がなされたこととなる。新学習指導要領における改訂の要点のひとつとして、各学校段階の学びを接続させることが挙げられており、「指導計画の作成と内容の取扱い」の中でも、他校種における指導との接続に留意する重要性が述べられている。また2017年に取りまとめられた教職課程コアカリキュラムの英語科の指導法のなかでも一般目標のひとつとして小・中・高等学校の連携の在り方について理解することが記されている。新学習指導要領導入、新教職課程開始に際し、日本の英語教育の発展、さらには英語教員養成の視点からも各教育機関の学びを知る必要があり、また異校種における連携が必須である。しかしながら新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大の影響もあいまり、そのような機会を持つことは容易ではない。
2022年度３月に開催される第４回ジョイントセミナー（第49回サマーセミナー、第10回英語教育セミナー）において大学英語教育学会では小学校、中学校、高等学校そして大学においての英語教育における連携・繋がりを考える場を提供したい。
第１日目は新学習指導要領、また小・中・高・大連携について海外提携学会等の試みを学ぶ場とする。第２日目は新学習指導要領導入によりもたらされる様々な変化について情報交換、意見交換を行う。検定教科書の使用により小・中・高の授業はどのように変化したのか、デジタル教科書の普及、活用はどのように行なわれているのか、評価にはどのように変化が見られるのか、さらに入試にはどのような影響が考えられるのか等について、小学校、中学校、高等学校、大学で教鞭を取る教員が自身の体験を共有することにより縦の連携を取り、今後の日本の英語教育の方向性を提示する場としたい。
English language education under the New Course of Study:
Collaboration between elementary, junior high, high school, and university educators
The New Course of Study, having started in elementary schools in 2020, and being introduced progressively on a yearly basis in high schools from 2022, has now been introduced across all school levels. One of the main points of revision under the New Course of Study is to connect learning across educational levels, and the importance of paying attention to connecting instruction across levels is mentioned in the "Lesson Plan Design and Treatment of the Contents" section. In addition, according to the 2017 Core Curriculum for Teaching English as a Second Language, one of the general goals is to understand how elementary, junior high, and high schools should work together. With the introduction of the new curriculum guidelines and the start of the new teacher training program, it is necessary to know what each educational institution is learning from the perspectives of developing English education in Japan, and training English teachers. Collaboration among educational institutions of all levels is essential, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, opportunities to collaborate have been limited.
At the 4th Joint Seminar (49th Summer Seminar and10th English Education Seminar) to be held in March 2023, the Japan Association of College English Teachers would like to provide a venue to consider collaboration and connections in English education between elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and universities. On the first day of the seminar there will be opportunities to learn about the New Course of Study and attempts of affiliated academic associations and other organizations to promote cooperation between elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and universities. The second day will be dedicated to exchanging information and opinions on the various changes brought about by the introduction of the New Course of Study, including how classes at elementary, junior high, and high schools have changed with the use of authorized textbooks, how digital textbooks are being used and disseminated, how evaluation has changed, and how entrance examinations are likely to be affected. The purpose of the seminar is to provide an opportunity for teachers at elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and universities to share their own experiences, to collaborate vertically, and to discuss the future direction of English education in Japan.
